“Read in the name of your Lord..”
The revelation of the Qur'an was a turning point in the history of man on this Earth. The Mission of the Messenger (Mercy to the Worlds) accompanied by the Qur'an (Guides to that which is most right) has made a unique difference to the life of man. This book is a comparative study of the place of al-Quds (Jerusalem) in the classic Judaic and Islamic traditions. Al-Quds functions as an important holy place and as a central religious symbol within three great religious traditions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In the western world the Christian and Jewish sacred histories of Jerusalem are well known but the Islamic sacred history is less well known. By studying al-Quds comparatively with respect to the Judaic and Islamic traditions, the author brings to light the Islamic traditions, perspective.

Abdul Wahid Hamid
This book set highlights aspects of the lives of sixty Companions of the Prophet, some famous, others almost completely unknown. Here the trials and triumphs of the early Muslims as individuals are well-portrayed. Their various paths to Islam -- sometimes direct, sometimes long and torturous, their devotion to the noble Prophet, their endeavors in peace time and their exploits in war -- all serve to cast them in a heroic mould. This is a two-book set based on original Arabic sources and written in a style that is lively and often gripping. The lives of the Sahabah or Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, is a rich storehouse of knowledge, guidance, and inspiration.

The men and women whose stories are told here helped to lay the foundations of a new world order, and it is only fitting that they should be more widely known.

An Autobiographical Notes
Alija Izetbegovic may best be known as the President who single-mindedly struggled for a just end to the conflict which ravaged his country in 1990s. in the face of indifference of Europe, which has lapsed on its fifty year old promise of 'never again' as concentration camps once more sprang up in its midst, the tirelessly campaigned for justice at home an abroad. To some he is difficult and uncompromising; to others is he a man who sought to live his life by the highest of principles. As a prisoner of conscience in the 1980s he once wrote, ' When I lose the reason to live, I shall die'.

Islam and the World

Sayyed Abdul Hasan Ali Nadwi
Islam and the World is the most popular work of the reputed author. Originally written in Arabic, the book has been rendered into English, French, Turkish, Persian and Urdu. In each language it has seen several reprints so far.
This book undertakes a study of the impact of Islam on history: the role Islam played in the story of human progress and the loss humanity has suffered by its downfall. In the words of its English Translator, Dr. Asif Kidwai, the aim of the author has been "to stir the Muslims into an appreciation of Islam's glorious role in the story of human progress, and to promote in them thereby, a desire to look into themselves, with a view to finding out how far they have been true to their duty and mission to the world." The book provides an emphatic refutation of the charge that Islam has outlived its usefulness, and hence, it would be futile to look up to it for guidance in the modern context of things. It presents Islam as an eternal reality and a programme of life which can never grow obsolete. This thought-provoking study throws new light on motives, opportunities and impact of Islamic and other civilizations on the material welfare as well as spiritual progress of humanity.

This book is the natural follow-on to For Christ's Sake. It explores the history of that extraordinary period during which the Muslims first flourished and then perished in the Iberian Peninsula - now Spain and Portugal. It was largely due to the Muslim presence and illumination there that the Dark Ages in Europe came to an end, and the Muslim influence remains with us today in a thousand ways.

Ismail Adam Patel

This book traces one of the most energetic and dynamic episodes in the history of Islam, that follows immediately after the passing of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It charts the course of Muslim history from 8-15AH / 629-637 CE when the great expansion into al-Sham (Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon) took place.

This book attempts not only to recount the military battles that led to the Muslims liberating Jerusalem from the Byzantines but also to understand the reasons why the Byzantine confederates of al-Sham abandoned their former masters for Islam. Ismail Patel attempts to address the Islamic expansion from a wider perspective with both Muslim and non-Muslim readers in mind. It will hopefully assist the non-Muslims to shake off the prejudices created by the Orientalists

Islam's brilliant contributions to science, art, and culture, are a timeless and precious heritage, which should be historically preserved for future generations. The great achievements of Muslim scholars are rarely if at all acknowledged in formal education, and today their identity, origins and impact remain largely obscure.

This collection of papers aims to give readers a brief introduction to the intellectual history of Muslims and the contributions that eminent Muslim scholars have made in certain specific fields of knowledge including basic and applied physical and biological sciences, medicine, legal and political theories and practices, economic and financial concepts, models, and institutions, etc.

Shining Stars Among the Prophets Companions (Part 1)

Abdul Basit Ahmad

Allah (swt) said about the Prophet's Companions: "And the foremost to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun and the Ansar and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well pleased with Him." (9:100)

And Messenger of Allah (swt) said: "My Companions are the surety of safety and when they leave this world, this Ummah will be afflicted with the Fitnah." (Muslim)

According to this general rule, we should follow all the facets of the life of the Prophet's Companions so that we may attain some of their qualities. The author has compiled in a most authentic way the life history of the 18 greatest Companions of the Prophet (S). We, at Darussalam, have published this valuable book in two volumes for the guidance of the Muslim Ummah especially for the young generation to follow them in every aspect of their life.

Ibn Kathir
In this book, the Stories of the Prophets have been compiled from 'Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah'(The beginning and the End) which is a great work of the famous Muslim exegete and historian Ibn Kathir and has a prominent place in the Islamic literature. The Stories of the Prophets and all the events in their lives have been supported by the Qur'anic Verses and the Traditions of the Prophet (PBUH). wherever it was necessary, other sources have also been reported for the sake of historical accounts, but on such places a comparative study has been made to prove the authenticity of the sources.

Ibn Kathir has reproduced the views and interpretations of all the great exegetes of the Qur'an of his time. The systemic narratives of the Stories of the Prophets have been written in chronological order which renders a historical style to the book.
